Policies and Procedures
Cancellation Policy
All cancellations for the month must be sent to the instructor before the 1st of each month.
All lessons must be canceled at least 24 hours prior to the lesson.
Failure to cancel the lesson at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson time will result in a forfeited lesson. (Meaning you will be charged for the lesson)
Teachers are required to follow the same policy and need to have their cancellations and time changes to you and House Call Music, before the 1st of the month.
Remember, we offer “VIRTUAL“ Lessons and have plenty of Subs, so please reach out right away when you need to cancel and we will line someone up!
This policy will ensure quality and consistent lessons each month!
Payments
All payments must be purchased prior to the 1st lesson each month.
Not purchasing lessons by the 3rd week of the month will result in pausing lessons until purchased.
“Individual” lessons can be rolled over to another month (if canceled outside of 24 hours)
* In the event a student leaves House Call Music before using all purchased lessons for the month, they will forfeit the remaining lessons with no refund. You could choose to “gift” them to a friend or family member if you choose!
- All lessons are non-refundable!
*Lesson packages for 8 and 12 weeks do not roll over month to month. Rather, they must be used in succession. Remember, you can purchase “Individual” lessons (which do roll over month to month if canceled outside 24 hours)
Packages cannot be shared. A package must be purchased for each student individually.
- In the event of a teacher cancellation, a substitute teacher will teach the lesson for that week or a Virtual lesson may occur.
- Please communicate with your instructor before purchasing a package!
*** IF YOU CHOOSE TO PURCHASE YOUR LESSON EACH WEEK (BEFORE THE LESSON), YOU NEEED TO CHOOSE “INDIVIDUAL LESSONS” BEFORE THE LESSON OCCURS!
Practice Materials
Sheet Music (all students must have their music the day of lesson)
Notebook (keep a notebook by the instrument so the instructor can write down weekly assignments)
Metronome
Pencil
Practice Time
Students are expected to practice and be prepared for weekly lessons
There will performance opportunities throughout the year and the student/teacher should set goals each week. It is important to set small goals each week for the following lesson.
Keep a timer at the practice space and write down the amount of time spent rehearsing- this can be documented in the notebook.
Keeping practice records is important for the student’s development.
Lesson Behavior
An adult, at least 18 years old, must be present the entire lesson!
Please be respectful when a lesson is taking place.
There should be no outside distractions during the lesson time. (no cell phones, food, drinks, friends, siblings, animals etc…)
- Obviously, cell phones and tablets can be uses during “Virtual Lessons” or when the student needs to listen to musical examples or look something up!
If a friend or sibling wants to listen to the lesson, then he or she needs to ask first and sit quietly and be respectful.
The designated practice area should be a quiet environment where the student and the teacher can work on music.
Lessons are only 30-60 minutes and the teacher needs all of this time to prepare the student for the following week.
Teacher Expectations
Teacher will arrive to the lesson on time and conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Teacher will communicate progress reports with parents (regarding lesson behavior, musicality etc)
Teacher will be available to address any questions or concerns that may arise.
Thanks,
